How long has the company been in existence and where is it based? Give us a brief synopsis of your products for helping enhance people’s study skills. Everything that I’ve learned has allowed me to find new ways of helping other people learn. I’ve studied marketing and communication, and done research in the field of psychology. Although working on self-improvement and continuing education software development is my main focus, I’m always looking for ways to learn new things myself. I spent four years at university studying software engineering and was awarded a scholarship to continue in that field pursuing a PhD, but I decided that I’d rather apply my skills in the field of business. I live in Canberra, Australia, and grew up in Sydney. Thank you very much for giving me this opportunit. Where are you from? What were your early days like? Describe your education and life experiences, especially as they prepared you for your work at. ![]() ![]() In this interview, we want to focus not just on your speed reading product (7SpeedReading), but also on the prospects and pitfalls of speed reading as such.īut first, tell us about yourself. Speed reading, if it can truly increase reading speed without diminishing comprehension, would be great. That said, we also want to avoid inflated promises that leave people disappointed. So in me and my allies in education, we are all for doing anything we can to help enhance people’s reading skills. Indeed, one of the prime initiatives of the Carson Scholars Funds is to set up reading rooms at schools throughout the country. Carson said it was his mother’s insistence that he turn off the television and read two books a week. When asked what was the key to his becoming a world-famous pediatric neurosurgeon on the faculty of Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Some time back I was involved in interviewing Ben Carson at a Carson Scholars Fund banquet in Pittsburgh. Marc, thanks so much for being willing to do this interview. In the interest of full disclosure, I’m not and never did get any kickback from for doing this interview though I did get an examination copy of its speed reading software (and perhaps some of their other programs, such as typing and spelling, though my memory on this has become fuzzy). Nonetheless, I thought it worth resurrecting this interview because it offers valuable lessons and insights and because my longstanding interest in speed reading remains unabated.
